All new Hyundai Creta launched At the starting price tag of Rs. 17.99 Lakh
Hyundai has officially introduced the Creta Electric, marking its first mass-market electric vehicle in India. With introductory prices starting at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric SUV is now on display at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Delhi. The Creta Electric is based on the standard internal combustion engine (ICE) model but comes with EV-specific enhancements.
Performance & Range
The Creta Electric is based on the standard internal combustion engine (ICE) model but comes with EV-specific enhancements. Hyundai offers the SUV with two battery options: a 42kWh battery that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 390km and a 51.4kWh battery that offers 473km of range. In terms of performance, the Long-Range (LR) variant is equipped with a 171hp, 255Nm motor and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, while the standard variant gets a 135hp motor. For reference, the ICE-powered Hyundai Creta N Line takes 8.9 seconds for the same sprint.
Charger and Charging Time
Charging times vary depending on the method used. The DC fast charger enables the larger battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes, whereas an 11kW AC home charger takes around four hours to fully recharge the battery. Hyundai has also introduced the 11kW AC wall box charger as an optional accessory for an additional Rs 73,000, available with the Smart (O), Premium, and Excellence variants.
Design & Colour Options

While the overall design and silhouette remain similar to the ICE Creta, Hyundai has introduced subtle yet distinctive changes. The front bumper features pixel-inspired detailing, aligning with Hyundai’s Ioniq models. The grille is sealed off, and the air dam is designed for improved aerodynamics. One of the standout features is the active air flap technology, a segment-first innovation that opens and closes the air vents based on cooling requirements and airflow efficiency. The charging port is cleverly hidden behind the Hyundai ‘H’ logo, and it comes with a multi-color surround light and charge level indicator.
From the side, the most noticeable changes include EV-specific aero alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres and blacked-out C-pillars in dual-tone variants. At the rear, the bumper sports pixel-like detailing that mirrors the front design, along with a prominent faux skid plate. Unlike the ICE version, the tailgate replaces variant-specific badging with a simple yet bold ‘Electric’ emblem. The Creta Electric is available in ten color options, compared to seven in the standard Creta. These include three new matte shades and a fresh Ocean Blue with Black Roof, alongside existing shades like Starry Night, Fiery Red, and Atlas White with Black Roof.
Interior and Features

Inside, the Creta Electric retains much of the ICE model’s cabin layout while incorporating modern EV-focused elements. It features a twin 10.25-inch screen setup, comprising a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system. The 8-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and auto-dimming IRVM enhance the premium feel. Hyundai has also used sustainable materials for the seat upholstery, reflecting its commitment to eco-friendly mobility. The steering wheel features the Hyundai ‘H’ logo embossed in Morse code, while the gear selector is replaced by a shift-by-wire stalk positioned behind the steering wheel on the right side. Additionally, a rotary dial allows drivers to switch between Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes.
On the safety front, Hyundai has equipped the Creta Electric with Level 2 ADAS technology, offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Standard safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, front parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and hill-start and descent assist, making it one of the most well-equipped models in its segment.
With the launch of the Creta Electric, Hyundai enters the competitive midsize electric SUV segment, taking on rivals like the Maruti e-Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Harrier EV, and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. This launch marks a significant step forward in Hyundai’s electrification strategy, reinforcing its commitment to expanding India’s EV ecosystem. Stay tuned for an in-depth review of the Hyundai Creta Electric and its real-world performance.
